Designer dupes on Amazon: Hermes edition

Fashion 👠

I recently wrote a blogpost about designer-like items on Amazon. I’m always looking for good dupes, and scrolling for good Amazon finds has become my new hobby. It just so happens that I run into A LOT of Hermes lookalikes while shopping, enough to deserve its own blogpost! So here are the best Hermes Birkin & Kelly lookalikes on Amazon. I’ll start with the most/best reviewed ones:

1. Mini Birkie

This little cutie is not available as a real Hermès, but it should be! This purse is a smaller version of the famous Birkin bag and comes in six funky colors. It’s made of vegan leather and comes with a crossbody strap.

$28.99

2. Accessorized Kel

This Kelly lookalike comes with all the fun extra’s like a twilly and keychain. This makes this bag extra classy and Hermès-like! The only thing that gives you away might be the black lines in the finishes, but overall this bag is a real good dupe – even the size is comparable to the real deal.

$55.00

3. Simple but classic

This purse by the brand EVVE is a little bit more understated and doesn’t have the exact same measurements as a real Kelly. However if you’re looking for a classic and basic bag, this might be your match. The pebbled leather makes it look high quality and the eight available colors are simply stunning.

$35

4. Vegan croc

This is one of the few Kelly dupes I’ve ever seen that has the beautiful croc look. It’s a little flashy and therefore not very Hermès like, but I guess Kelly’s can come in many different colors and styles. Interestingly, this also one of the few ones I’ve seen with the silver hardware details. The price is very likeable too!

$25.99

5. Pretty pochette

I know this is a less popular model than the Kelly or the Birkin, but I wanted to include it never the less because it is such a good lookalike. From what I’ve heard, Levantine had good quality AND ethically made bags (they also have Kelly-like model which I included in this blogpost). This pochette is perfect for evenings and comes in six colors.

$74.99

Read this if you find your validation in others

Deep ✨

Finding or getting your sense of self worth in and from other people is very human, but also fleeting. If we find our validation – our worthiness, our feeling of ‘being important or special’ – in our friends, the opposite sex, our parents or strangers on the internet, we have to go back to them for it every single time. And that isn’t very comforting OR sustainable, is it?

The point is, we all do it. We all want to be recognized and seen by other people. We all want other people to want us, or to want to be us. We all want to know that we are worthy, so we look for signs that show us that we are smart, kind, beautiful or interesting.

Why we do it

We need this validation from other people because we are social beings, and getting validated feels like we are part of a group, like we are ‘in’. For our ancestors, and still in a different way today, this social status increases our probability for staying alive.

But although we are practically worthless on our own in the biological and evolutionary sense, our worthiness as a person, as a human being, as a young woman, does NOT require validation from others (or at all).

Why it’s bad news

And if we do feel the need for validation – which is completely normal – we should stay away from finding it in compliments, likes or envy from others. This validation is usually timely and very superficial. It is usually only a poorly found appreciation of our body, our beauty, or our general likability in the eyes of others.

But even if the validation we get from others is true, profound and justified (say, the unconditional love you get from a parent, or the appreciation of your talents by a friend) we should refrain from being dependent on their judgement. The point is, if we find our sense of self worth in something outside of us, on something that is as timely and fleeting as another person, we have to go back to them for it every single time.

We all know the girl who fishes for compliments all the time, don’t we? Or we all know the feeling of being someone’s obsession, but somehow it doesn’t feel like you are valued enough just yet. We have all told our mom ‘Well I know you think I’m beautiful, but that’s just you.’

This shows that someone else’s validation never fully satisfies our ego. And it shouldn’t. Because as you might already know, things that appeal to the ego are hardly ever good news to the soul. The kind of validation that we look for in others, can by its external, superficial and temporary nature never truly give us a sense of self worth.

What now?

So, where do we find our validation, then? It has to be a source that is not temporary, that is not external, that does not run out and that is profound and universally true. But where you find it varies from person to person.

For a religious soul, this might be God. For a spiritual one, this is Source, energy, connectedness or the universe. An atheist might find it in self-realization or a humanist view on identity and self. But basically everyone could find it in their humanity, their talents, their kindness, their special role within society, or the fact that you are here, now, and you are you – perfectly different from everyone else but similar enough to always be part of the whole.

If you ever feel let down by someone else because they don’t validate you, remember that your worthiness is not tied to their timely opinion. That you weren’t willing to come back for another shot of validation every single day anyway. That like Sagan said, ‘we are all made from starstuff’. And there is nothing any other human can do about that.

So whether you have many friends or no friends at all, whether you have 1k likes on Instagram or 1, whether people call you beautiful or people call you ugly, your worth remains the same and untainted. Always.

The explanation of the brand name

Geen categorie

I was very young when I started writing and blogging. And ever since high school, I remember having some sort of blog. First on Myspace, later on websites like Blogger and WordPress. I used to own blogs about my life, some fiction and I even used to run a (not so successful) blog about healthy food with my friend. However, this is the first time I own an actual domain name (CocoEleven.com). So you can imagine, I had to find a good name if I was finally going to pay for it and build my brand on it.

I have been using the name Coco Eleven as an online username on and off for about ten years now. I once came up with the name because I didn’t want to use my own name for privacy reasons. I also somehow wanted to integrate my birthday in it, since I’m a very proud november-child and scorpio (I understand that not everyone is a fan of defining their personality by the astrological moment you were born, however, I find that the scorpio attributes describe me to a T).

So, I found a match by using the first syllable of my name twice, and the month I was born in. It was only later that I realised that Coco actually is a (pretty nice) women’s name, and 11 is a highly spiritual number in numerology (which I’m not really educated in), and stands for sensitive and charismatic, cooperative and independent. Which once again in my life, describes perfectly what I was trying to get to by starting this website!

And so, Coco Eleven was born (again). She rose like a phoenix from the ashes of her past. And this time, she is doing it properly – using time and money to build a brand and put her whole heart and soul into it. I hope you enjoy my content!
